Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame form partnership to bring BC Sports Hall of Fame annual summit to Victoria in September 2023.

The BC Sports Hall of Fame announced at the Council of Chairs Dinner Friday night and at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting itself on Saturday co-hosting duties of the Greater Victoria 2023 Annual Summit in Victoria in September 2023. Thanks to GVSHoF President Doug Jennings for confirming the Victoria Sports Hall’s intention to partner with the BC Sports Hall of Fame on Greater Victoria 2023.

The BC Sports Hall of Fame expressed their gratitude to the support of the Board of Directors of the GVSHOF. Greater Victoria 2023 will be held during the windows of either September 7-9 or September 14-16 – with a final decision on dates expected to be made within the next 30 days. Keys to success will be to make the most of the one-year planning horizon for Greater Victoria 2023 – building on the four-month project horizon this year for Kelowna 2022.

"Longer planning horizons will become an important mantra in the years to come," said Tom Mayenknecht, Chair of the BC Sports Hall of Fame.

For major cornerstone events such as the Induction Event and the Annual Summit, we believe that a minimum one-year planning horizon is essential to optimize engagement, ticket sales and sponsorship revenue and entertainment quality for the event itself. The next step will be to designate local halls and their markets closer to 18 months out so that those future partners can send a team to the event hosted the year before its turn. Seeing and feeling the event will help future hosts deliver in their own markets. Greater Victoria will be officially announced within 30 days once the dates have been finalized. Our Annual Summit Committee team and the constituent events for next year’s Annual Summit will come together in the coming weeks.
