Charity of Dreams

On July 9,  the Victoria Foundation held their first annual Field of Dreams Charity Softball Game between the First Responders and the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame.

The GVSHOF team (and supporters) walked off a 9-8 win! The GVSHOF team of board members, inductees and supporters included Brenda Shields Hennigar, Jeff Hurfold, Tom Turnbull, Doug Henderson, Nick Clarke, Doug Jennigns and Mike Piechnik. The event took place at Wilson's Group Stadium a t historic Royal Athletic Park and brought together many community members from local heroes to sports legends.

This charity game raised funds for the HarbourCats Foundation, a non-profit organisation committed to, “the support of baseball and softball efforts across the Greater Victoria area and helping make these two sports affordable for all children. Whether it be assisting in the purchasing of much-needed equipment, education, or fee support, the HarbourCats Foundation strives to foster the growth and sustainability of baseball and softball so that all youth enjoy the opportunity to play these wonderful pastimes.”

A big thanks to the City of Victoria, Victoria HarbourCats Baseball Club, event sponsors, community partners, and volunteers who have generously supported this initiative – and participants! Everyone’s dedication and commitment have been instrumental in bringing this “Field of Dreams” dream to reality.
