The Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame is pleased to announce that Para-sailor Stacie Louttit has re-joined its Board of Directors after a two-year absence.

Louttit is a two-time Paralympian having competed in in the 2008 Beijing games, where she won bronze, and in the 2012 London Paralympics, finishing 4^th. On both occasions she competed in the Skud-18 sailing class with teammate John McRoberts.

Although Louttit sailed in her youth, it was a tragic accident that led her to take up competitive sailing. In 1994 she broke her back in a skiing accident at Whistler Blackcomb and was left a walking paraplegic. Looking for a new sport and challenge, she took up sailboat racing through the BC Disabled Sailing Association in Victoria. As a retired Paralympian, she continues to sail in the 2.4mR single handed class out of Royal Victoria Yacht Club, and has competed in both local and North American regattas.  

“I am excited to rejoin the board of the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame, “she said. This organization plays an important role in recognizing the Victoria sporting community’s achievements, and it is rewarding to take part in its future.”

Doug Jennings, President of the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame, welcomes Louttit to the board. “We are delighted to welcome back Stacie to our volunteer Board. Her sports background and continued community involvement will be a great asset to us.”

When not sailing, Louttit works as financial consultant specializing in US tax solutions. She and husband Rhys have a seventeen-year-old son, Dylan.

The other board members are: Robert Hope, Rick Leggett, Chris Graham, Tom Turnbull, Dave Erb, Lois Smith, Robert Bettauer, Cal Mackay, Fern Johnson, Louise Hodgson-Jones and Jim Swanson. Each board member serves a three-year term.
