Past Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame president Robert (Bob) Hope was recently honoured by TELUS with the Legend Award.
The TELUS Legend award is the highest recognition a team member can achieve at TELUS. It honours those who, throughout their careers, have made extraordinary contributions to their customers, to the business, to their teams and communities.
With TELUS, Bob was the President of the TELUS Community Ambassadors, where his work helped support a number of charities. He attended nearly every community event where Ambassadors were involved. He was previously awarded the TELUS "Ultimate Volunteer" for his time as Director of the TELUS Community Board (2019-2022), Board of Director with the TELUS Communtiy Connections Volunteer Society BC (2015-2022), volunteer and past President of the TELUS Community Ambassadors Victoria (2006 to present) and Board of Director and Chair of the TELUS Community Connections (2001-2006).
While his incredible volunteerism with TELUS would be more than enough for one person to contribute, Bob Hope also gave his time in the area of sport. He was President of the GVSHOF from 2014 to 2017 but served on the board from 2008-2021. He was made a lifetime member of the BC Soccer and Vancouver Island Soccer Referee Association. He served on the Board of Directors for BC Soccer (Chair of Discipline and Appeals Committee), the Canadian Soccer Referees Association, the Lower Island Soccer Association, Vancouver Island Soccer Referees Association, the Peninsula Soccer Association and the Sidney Lions Club.
Congratulations to Bob Hope!
