Ed was first introduced to Rugby at the age of six at St. Michaels University School. He captained the senior team to the School’s third ever BC Rugby High School AAA Championship and was named to the Captains Fifteen as the top player. Ed also represented the Oak Bay Castaway Wanders, Vancouver Island Crimson Tide, Under 17 BC team, and captained the first Under 17 Canadian national tour. He represented Canada at the Under 19 level before joining the Under 23 National Development program at the Commonwealth Centre for Sport Development.

Ed was part of the Canadian Under 19 national team that competed at the Junior Rugby World Cup in France. He was named MVP of the Canadian team and Canada finish 4th in the world.

Ed played for the Senior National Men’s 15’s team and was also selected to the National Men’s 7’s team that competed in the Rugby 7’s World Cup in Hong Kong and 2002 Commonwealth Games.

During his first few years on the national team, Ed also played for the University of Victoria Vikes and was named Male Athlete of the year in 2004. From 2006 to 2009, Ed amassed over 60 appearances for his professional clubs.

Ed competed in three Rugby World Cups and over his 12-year career, earned 57 caps for Canada.
